Shamane's Bake Shoppe
When I was planning my wedding, I knew that I wanted a Latino/Mexicano style wedding cake, that said elegance and tradition. I thought about calla lillies (for Diego River), Bugambilias (Frida), Talavera, etc. So I searched high and low for a cake design, and just by chance I found one in Latina Magazine. I knew immediately that I wanted a talavera design on my wedding cake.
When I would meet with vendors I would show them the design and some said they could do it, but it would require tons of fondant, and others said it would be difficult. But finally, I met Shamane! The moment I mentioned "Talavera" she immediately knew what it was, and mentioned that she owned several antique talavera pots (circa 1940)! I knew this was love at first bite... I mean sight. :)
Her cake shop is located in Boulder, Colorado and in it you will find delicious pastries, and pictures and replicas of wedding cakes. She knew all about being Latina and wanting to showcase your history, traditions, culture, and pride! She knew about which colors look best with talavera, the flowers, the patterns, everything!
Her cakes were delicious and it was so difficult for us to make up our mind! She even mentioned that she had a dulce de leche caramel flavor that tasted similar to Tres Leches, as well as chocolate cinammon cake which tastes just like Chocolate Abuelita! And even though we hadn't picked that flavor for our cake testing, she whipped up a sample to give to us and it was amazing!
I was incredibly impressed with her time and commitment to us as a client. We spent almost 2 hours there! I truly appreciate that kind of attention because it means they really care about what you envision for your wedding cake.
