For those of us hit hard with the economy, real flowers are starting to seem more like a luxury. I know I can't afford real flowers, but I am so picky, that I know I don't want to just use ANY fake flower. So what's the alternative?
Latex Flowers:
You can find these at Hobby Lobby, Michaels or other craft stores. They are relatively cheap and they are usually ALWAY on sale for %50 off! You can use a basic base and then build around a candle to help take up some room. The latex flowers have a very real texture to and they look absolutely real! I am using calla lillies and roses in my flowers and the calla lillies look so real that my sister put the one I brought home in water!
Candle-Only :
Some couples are opting out for just setting a beautiful candle lit centerpience on every table. You can add your own ribbons, heights, trinkets, charms, etc to make each candle unique. This is also a good way to make the reception smell pretty. (Be sure to check with your venue first to make sure that they allow fire/candles in their reception halls).
Frames:
Other couples are going with a more personal approach and are adding pictures frames of the couples travels, their history together, or even pictures of both families so that friends and families can get to know one another.
In deciding a centerpiece, don't fret over the small details of it, because frankly, nobody remembers the centerpieces! People will remember the time they had and the food they ate and what a great party it was! Plus, the reason we can never remember the centerpieces at weddings is because all of our friends and families take them before the end of the night!! :) So relax, just because you can't afford real flowers doesn't mean you can't have centerpieces!
Below is a slideshow from one of the most beautiful and kindest Latina brides I have ever seen. :) They incorporated their cultural theme into everything!
